“A Hand Up – Not a Handout”

Much more than bread. Each Friday the Methodist Churches of Oak Ridge meets the Second Harvest truck at the Kroger store to pick up fresh meat, bread, produce and dairy products, which is given at our office to 40-70 families.


billsEmergency Aid

Provides emergency help on a case-by-case basis for items such as hearing aids, glasses, food, utility bills, and medication costs.


msphomerepairHome Repairs

Throughout the year, we host volunteers from across that country ,that make much needed repairs to homes of the elderly, handicapped, and unemployed, ranging from new roofs to wheelchair ramps.

We provide support services for adults taking job training at Tennessee College of Applied Technology and those wishing to go to college. We help with transportation, fees, tuition, books, testing and baby-sitting.


mspgardenGood Earth Garden

We provide vegetable seeds, plants and fertilizer to more than 350 families each year so they can grow their own food. We also have a garden we share with needy families during harvest.


thrift-store-9Thrift Store

Our store, located in our headquarters building, provides reasonably priced clothing and household items to hundreds of families each year. Proceeds from the sale of these donated items help overset a portion of our overhead.

We assist families with food and personal hygiene items as well as helping prepare public-assistant applications for such services as food stamps.

We provide school children with new backpacks and grade-appropriate items for each new school year.


Christmas Gifts

Each year we work with other area non-profits to provide gifts to poor and low income children. We provide gifts to more than 2,200 children each year.

Low Cost Dental Clinic

We are developing a low-cost dental clinic in Huntsville, TN.
